We first heard of Leaders in Accountable Food-service(LEAF) in 2011. LEAF had started in 2009 when President Janine Windsor recognized a need to help the Canadian food-service industry reduce their environmental footprint. While working in the food-service industry during university and her dietetic internship, Janine was bothered by the amount of waste she saw on a daily basis. She decided to take action and gathered a group of experienced environmental and food-service professionals to develop what LEAF has become today: Canada’s only nationwide, non-profit food-service certification program. We were so impressed with Janine and her work that we invited her to present at our first annual UGSRP symposium later that year. Since then we’ve been watching and admiring the work LEAF is doing in our industry.
Each year LEAF presents a list of the countries greenest restaurants. This years list highlights restaurants from all across the nation including our very own PJ’s at the Atrium. Follow this link to see the ever growing list of impressive operators helping make our industry and world a better place!
